Ghana's Progress Towards a Sustainable Energy Future

As Ghana forges ahead on its transformative journey from a low-income nation to a low-middle-income country, the demands for energy to fuel its growth are ever more apparent.

Recent findings from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) emphasize the dire need for swift action in transitioning away from fossil fuels. This global call to action resonates particularly strongly in Ghana, where our aspirations for development and prosperity stand in stark contrast to the potential devastation brought about by unchecked climate change.

We seize this pivotal moment to beseech Hon. President Nana Akufo-Addo to lead Ghana’s charge for climate justice. By championing a bold commitment to renewable energy, we can uphold our legacy as a stable African democracy and spearhead a paradigm shift that places sustainability at the forefront of our progress.

Join us in this defining moment. Let us unite to shift the trajectory of our nation’s energy landscape, protecting our natural resources, fostering economic growth, and safeguarding our shared planet for generations to come. Sign this petition and be part of Ghana’s legacy as a trailblazer in the global movement towards renewable energy and climate justice.

Transition Ghana towards a renewable energy future

Dear Concerned Citizens and Climate Advocates

Ghana's growth from a low-income country to a low-middle income status means that Ghana is energy-hungry. However, the cost of climate change exacerbated by the reliance on fossil fuels is a threat to this progress. Ghana needs a sustainable and dimate-friendly energy solution to meet its development needs and propel the nation economically.
The recent report by the IPCC proves further, the need for an urgent and faster transition away from fossil fuel use. We take this opportunity to ask Hon. President Nana Akufo - Addo to take lead in Ghana's pursuit of dimate justice, protect our livelihoods and resources, as well as commit to achieving at least 10% renewable energy in the energy mix by 2030.
Renewable Energy for Communities Coalition wants to make sure this message is delivered to Hon President Nana Akufo. Add your voice to demand we keep fossil fuels in the ground and transition Ghana towards a renewable energy future.
Ghana is still praised as one of the most stable African democracies since the dawn of African independence led by the iconic Kwame Nkrumah; the time has come for Ghana to lead the way in breaking free from fossil fuels dependence.
